Its a surf trip, with waves and everything!

After an indefinite number of years, months and days I have decided to finally take up blogging by documenting this much awaited surf trip to Nicaragua.  I did a bit of it in 2008 for Ride for a Reason when a few friends and I rode our bikes accross the country after graduating.  I didn't really post as much as I could have- given all of the daily encounters that we had, and outside of my work's blog, I really haven't done any blogging since.  I'll try to keep with it this time.

Here's a brief rundown of the trip beginning with a character list:
- Me (Aaron)- longtime passionate "surfer," weak arms, Charleston, SC
- Mike- the 'neck translater, weak arms, buddy from Charleston, SC
- Evan- currently a passionate surf vagabond, chemist, strong arms, been on several trips with him since our NC State days
- Jordan- Evan's brother, probably stronger arms, Wilmington, NC
- Cassie- Jordan's friend living in Managua, Nica, also probably stronger arms

And the brief rundown...
Flying to Managua, Nicaragua on Friday, July 29, 2011.  There I will be meeting Mike at the airport (I hope).  Then to rent a car and drive to the U.S. Embassy on the way out of town to meet Jordan and his friend Cassie.  From there we'll hopefully make it to Gigante to meet Evan by the end of the night.  The surf, surf, surf, see volcanoes and come home on the August 14th.  Classes and work resume August 15th...... (mm......)

Went and bought a few things to prep this weekend- sunscreen, new leash and 3 bars of surf wax.  Also, powdered gatorade.  I never drink Gatorade but for some reason I have brought it on my trips in the past and it has come in handy.  Besides that I think that I have what I need.  More to come as the countdown winds down, including... Mike's stick-shift refresher on Tuesday...

Swell forecast looks good for a bit of a warmup session Saturday and barrels and barrels and barrels hopefully Sunday

guess I should go tell them that I am blogging this trip now..
